What Lung Cancer Symptoms Should I Be Aware Of?

If persons with early lung cancer symptoms was to go to their doctor or health care provider when the symptoms are first noticed, the lung cancer symptoms would lead to the diagnosing of lung cancer and treatment could begin while the cancer is at an early stage and possibly curable.

Anyone experiencing any of these problems or possible lung cancer symptoms should not hesitate in getting medical attention immediately:

  • Coughing that doesn't disappear and continues to worsens.
  • Continual bouts of pneumonia, bronchitis or other respiratory problems.
  • Shortness of breath, including gasping for breath and/or wheezing.
  • Always feeling tired and exhausted, even if you're not doing much.

Other lung cancer symptoms are a loss of appetite, a constant pain in the chest, or coughing up blood.

As the cancer continues to grow and spreads to other organs the additional lung cancer symptoms may include:

  • Neurological conditions, such as weakness, a seizure, the loss of feeling in an extremity.
  • Bony pain, similar to arthritis.
  • Jaundice - a yellowing of the skin and eyes.
  • Tumerous Masses Near the surface of the body, due to the cancer spreading to the skin and/or lymph nodes.

Some lung cancers produce hormone like substances, this is called Paraneoplstic or tumor related syndromes, that can enter the bloodstream and cause problems with other organs and tissues. Note - the cancer has not necessarily spread, the lung cancer has produced substances which harm the other organs.
