There are many natural remedies that can help you reduce your blood pressure. First you need to find out what causes your blood pressure to skyrocket. If it is something simple causing it then it will be easy to maintain at low levels.

Number one on the list to keep blood pressure levels at optimum is to get plenty of exercise. Exercise is important because it helps the blood circulate within your body. When you exercise, your heart pumps harder, which pushes more blood through your veins. In turn, this improves circulation and reduces blood pressure levels after exercise is complete. If you have high blood pressure, a daily exercise routine is likely to help. Of course, you should check with your doctor first to make sure you don’t have any underlying health problems that would prevent this. In addition, you shouldn’t make your exercise regimen too strenuous if you haven’t been active for a while. You can hurt yourself.

Eating right is another way you can naturally help your blood pressure levels. You can stay away from high fat foods, high sodium levels, and stop drinking alcohol. These things are important to maintaining a healthy blood pressure level. If you consume these things in high levels then you could be causing your blood pressure to be high in the first place.

There are some supplements that can also help you lower your blood pressure. These include fish oil, hawthorn, garlic, and coenzyme Q 10. Coenzyme Q 10 has been shown to be effective in reducing systolic blood pressure levels. In addition, if you have type 2 diabetes along with high blood pressure, you may also benefit from taking coenzyme Q 10.

Garlic is another way to beneficially lower systolic blood pressure. However, you have to reduce or cease taking garlic or garlic supplements altogether if you are about to undergo surgery. In addition, you should not consume garlic for a period of time after surgery is complete. In other cases, though, garlic can greatly help with blood pressure levels. That said, though, it can also interact negatively with certain medications and should be checked with your doctor. You may need to avoid it when you take medications such as Trental or Coumadin.

if you are looking for an herbal supplement to help maintain healthy levels for your blood pressure then you should consider taking hawthorn. Diastolic blood pressure levels can be greatly reduced when taking hawthorn. There are no herbal drug interactions with hawthorn.

Fish oil is one of the best things you can take as a supplement if you have high blood pressure. The best way to get DHA is through oils from fish. You should consider eating a lot of fish but if you don’t like fish then you should take a fish oil supplement. You will notice an excellent reduction in your blood pressure levels.

There are many natural ways you can reduce your blood pressure. These ways include maintaining a healthy diet on a daily basis. You should have a normal exercise routine. Exercise helps improve circulation and lower your circulation. You can also take natural supplements that are designed to help lower your blood pressure levels. You don’t have to take medications for lowering cholesterol. You can lower your cholesterol yourself by paying attention to how healthy you are. Maintaining a healthy level of cholesterol can be accomplished with some effort, but you can do it.

Eat Foods That Lower Blood Pressure

If you have high blood pressure then you need to pay attention to the food and drinks your body consumes. Certain things should be avoided if you want to keep your blood pressure down.

Drinking alcohol occasionally may not be detrimental to blood pressure, but drinking it a lot is. Alcohol has been known to have a detrimental effect on your blood pressure, and can raise it. High blood pressure damages the walls of your blood vessels, which in turn elevates your blood pressure even more. If you drink excessively, this can cause serious blood vessel difficulties and make your high blood pressure even more difficult to treat.

You can also increase your chances of having more complications with your blood pressure. Some studies have shown that a small amount of alcohol can have a protective effect on your heart. However, you should not take the risk nor should you have this attitude. You should cut alcohol out of your diet entirely.

Salt is another thing most Americans get too much of. If you suffer from high blood pressure, you should cut excess salt out of your diet. Of course, foods contain sodium naturally, and small amounts of sodium are indeed necessary. Nonetheless, you can get everything you need from your food naturally without adding any additional salt.

If you already have high blood pressure, consuming excess salt is probably forbidden on your diet. Even if your blood pressure is optimal, too much salt can still be detrimental to your health. A good way to begin to adjust your salt intake is to make sure you cook without salt altogether, and then taste your food before you add any. In general, opt add no more than about a half a teaspoon of table salt to your food on a daily basis, and avoid pre-salted foods such as processed junk food like potato chips or pretzels, or even some canned products such as soups and tomato products.

Saturated fats, too, are bad for your blood vessels and your heart when consumed excessively. If you eat a lot of fats, especially saturated or trans fats, they can raise your cholesterol levels and damage your circulatory system. Your diet should have only modest amounts of these types of fats. Limit your consumption of processed foods such as cakes, fried foods, fast foods, and simple sugars. Meats do contain some saturated fat, but can be consumed in moderation. Concentrate on fish and chicken as meat sources.

Your circulatory system is already under a lot of stress and high fatty foods can be dangerous to your body. You should also consider the dairy products you consume. Dairy products are high in fat. You should eat low or no fat dairy products if you have a problem removing dairy from your diet.

The best things you can eat when you have high blood pressure and you want to keep your pressure at a low include fresh fruits and vegetables and fish. Green vegetables are the healthiest for you and fruits like berries or cantaloupe. You don’t want to eat too much of fruits that are really high in citrus.

If you have high blood pressure, the food you eat is very important. If you eat a lot of high fat or highly salted food, this can cause your blood pressure to go off without your even being aware of it. Eat foods low in salt and saturated fat, and avoid excess alcohol consumption. All of this can be very damaging to your blood vessels, which in turn can raise your blood pressure. By contrast, a good diet can also significantly lower your blood pressure.

Do You Need to Keep a Blood Pressure Log?

Wednesday, July 9th, 2008
by Paul Johnson

High blood pressure can be a major health problem. In fact, it’s one of the major reasons for cardiovascular difficulties among people today. Keeping a log of your blood pressure is very useful because it will help you determine what if anything you are doing that elevates your blood pressure; by contrast, it will also help you keep track of what things you can do that may lower it.

The causes of blood pressure elevation can be different for different people. For example, something that may cause your blood pressure go up won’t have any effect on someone else’s. You might be able to eat certain foods that other people can’t, and vice versa. You need to know what foods you can and can’t eat, so that you can maintain your blood pressure at an optimal level.

When you keep a log of blood pressure levels, write down your daily activities and what you eat. If you are particularly active, it’s very easy to forget to do this. However, it’s something that’s important to keep abreast of. Therefore, take your log with you and write down what you do as soon as you do it. For example, you can write down your exercise regimen, everything you’ve eaten in a day, and anything else that might affect your blood pressure, including sleep. Take your blood pressure at certain times throughout the day, such as just upon rising, once during the middle of the day, just after exercise, and just before bed. Write your blood pressure down every time you take it.

After a few days of this, you should be able to look at your log and see trends in your blood pressure levels. For example, perhaps your blood pressure is low just upon rising, particularly elevated after a high salt meal or snack, at a good, low level when taken after an appropriate rest after you’ve done your 30 minutes of exercise, and so on. For example, perhaps drinking a lot of coffee elevates your blood pressure to unhealthy levels. This can tell you that you should cut back. Similarly, the above example shows that exercise helps keep your blood pressure at a good low level, so this is something you should continue.

This proactive approach to maintaining a healthy blood pressure level is going to be a great help to you as you seek to stay healthy. You need to understand what foods are best for you and what events are beneficial or harmful as well.

When you keep a log you will be able to learn which things in your life are harmful to your body and cause your blood pressure to increase. Once you learn what these things are then you can eliminate them from your lifestyle. You might be the one causing your blood pressure to increase and not even know it.

You will find that your blood pressure can be easy to maintain by doing the right things for your body. If you are eating unhealthy and have events in your life causing your blood pressure to rise then you will need to change these.

Keeping a personal blood pressure log is an important step in a healthy lifestyle. Your blood pressure log can help you find out things you may be doing yourself that cause your blood pressure to go up. You can also change your lifestyle so that you don’t have to take medications (or least can cut down on them) to maintain a healthy blood pressure. If your blood pressure log is to be successful, though, you have to be diligent about keeping it up, and making entries into it every day.
