burn calories diet: a vital component to your weight loss success

Friday, February 29th, 2008
by Kevin Prott

With so many diet plans on the market today, trying to find the one that works for you can be a trying experience. Worse, some forms of dieting can do more harm than good. So what should you look for in a diet plan? The first thing it should offer is a way to increase your metabolism. This is absolutely the golden key for long-term weight loss success.

Here’s the biggest problem most people have with weight loss: They try some quick-fix method that starves the calories away. But soon after, as they return to their old eating patterns, the pounds start creeping back on. Why is this? What causes the yo-yo effect?

It’s because the philosophy of traditional dieting is to get the body to use its stores of fat. The diet does this by basically starving the body. What most people don’t realize is that this is actually harmful to the person who wants to gain a healthy body, because this trains the body to burn muscle rather than fat. The weight that’s lost is usually just water loss.

This weight and then some is always gained back as soon as the dieter begins eating again; their body continues to store food as fat, usually leading to the dieter being worse off than before. Do not feel bad if you have tried this method of dieting and failed - it simply can’t work no matter what you do.

So how do we avoid this trap? By finding a diet that both burns calories while at the same time raising your metabolism. This is a method that will train your body to prefer the burning of fat rather than muscle. The result: You lose pounds without causing damage to your muscles and ultimately, you’re more likely to keep the pounds off.

As you are designing your weight loss program, remember to incorporate three elements. Your diet will tell you what you should eat and how much, an exercise program that will help to burn calories, and developing new habits that will keep you from going back to the old unhealthy ways.

Through it all, remember not to rush the process. Yes, it’s true that significant weight loss often occurs in less time than we might have thought, but big changes to the body cannot be instant and yet be healthy. You have to be patient with yourself.

And remember - be gentle with the process. Don’t force too much exercise or eat too little thinking that this will speed the process; it won’t. It will, in fact, probably be counterproductive and make you have to take even more time to lose the weight you want to lose.

Remember, in the end, success depends on you. A good calorie burning diet plan can help tremendously; a comprehensive weight loss plan with the diet AND exercise guidelines are even better. But no matter which diet plan you choose to use, remember to burn calories, increase metabolism, and patience will see you free of all those excess pounds for good.

gettin breast cancer online support

Going through the misery of breast cancer and the tiredness associated with its treatment can easily make you give up hope. You will feel lonesome even in presence of your family since they’ll treat you as a fragile object sometimes, at other times, insensitively. What you really need is some understanding, which only people who have suffered what you have can give you.

For such times, many breast cancer support groups offer all the information you need for your disease. These groups are mostly run by women who have experienced what you now experience, and will understand all your needs. Through such organizations, you can meet and interact with other survivors, who will give you the strength to defeat your cancer, and other patients, who suffer from the same fears you do, and will help you coming out of your loneliness.

Susan G. Komen’s cms.komen.org, besides providing you all the information on breast cancer that you may need, has internal research projects to help you cure better and faster. Being the largest group of breast cancer survivors, you will never feel left out in the presence of these women. Also are groups, like bcsupport.org and y-me.org, which have chat rooms where breast cancer survivors and activists can meet up and interact with each other, receive news on latest developments in the field, and suggest better treatment methods as well as inform you on the prevalent technology and breast cancer know-how.

Breastcancersupport.org is a volunteer-based organization that was started in 1988 by two breast cancer victims who understood the need of helping and enlightening breast cancer victims. So you see, you just have to look around, make a few searches here and there, and you will find many people who know and understand just how you feel.

All these organizations basically help you survive through your treatments by letting you know you are not alone, and that there have been many women who have gone through exactly what you are going through. You will come to feel such attachment for those women, and know how many women go through the same plights that you do, that you may want to yourself volunteer helping others. Giving others the support you yourself needed at some point of time will mentally energize you to fight the disease.

Not only do these organizations give you emotional support, if you are financially insecure, they make donations for your treatments, which are entirely voluntary. Your only decision is to ask for help in this matter, and you will find a whole new world of love and affection.
